Reports: Kim Jong-il has pancreatic cancer
North Korea's leader Kim Jong-il is reported to have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
South Korean TV news channel YTN said the 67-year-old was diagnosed with the cancer around the time he is alleged to have suffered a stroke last year.
The unconfirmed report cites anonymous intelligence officials in South Korea and China.
Mr Kim's health has become the subject of intense media speculation due to the predicted instability in North Korea which may follow his death.
And he has rarely been seen since being taken ill last summer.
Last week TV footage showed the North Korean leader appearing at a ceremony marking the 15th anniversary of his father's death looking frail and allegedly struggling with a limp.
It is thought Mr Kim is preparing his third and youngest son Kim Jong-un to be his heir as his health allegedly continues to deteriorate.
