WoW Hit With Connection, Authentication Issues

World of Warcraft has been hit with authentication and connection problems that began appearing earlier tonight.
Several people across the US have reported trouble connecting to the MMO with many users not being able to get passed the authentication screen.
As expected the WoW forums have been flooded with users looking for answers. Meanwhile 'wow forums' and 'wow login problems' hit Google Trends top 100 searches, giving to the fact that quite a number of users are dealing with the current issues.
Earlier a Blizzard rep claimed that the problems had been resolved, but that doesn't appear to be the case with many still complaining of login failures.
