Officers commended for quickly finding suspect
Capt. Don Jones of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is commending Deputy Kevin Roye and investigators John Graskewicz and Richard Minton for locating a suspect who allegedly broke into a residence in Logan.
Jones said the dispatcher received a 911 call at 4:17 a.m. Wednesday from a female who advised that her cousin and housemate had probably scared away an intruder.
“The 59-year-old woman said she had awoke to find a man lying on top of her,” Jones said. “The man allegedly entered through a window. The woman screamed and attempted to fight him off. He struck her and ran off. She believes her screams awoke her cousin and housemate, and the man heard him and ran off.
“Deputy Roye obtained evidence at the scene and quickly developed a suspect before noon,” Jones said.
Robert L. Taylor, 21, of Logan has been arrested and charged with home invasion, a Class X felony, Jones said.
Taylor was also charged with attempted sexual assault, a Class 1 felony, residential burglary, which is a Class 1 felony and aggravated battery, which is a misdemeanor.
Taylor was transported to the Franklin County Jail in Benton.
The case remains under investigation, Jones said.
