Sotomayor to respect SCOTUS on 2nd amendment

Sonia Sotomayor tries to assuage gun owners and NRA-backed senators, saying that one of her god children is a member of the NRA and that "many many Americans" believe strongly in their right to bear arms.

Asked by Pat Leahy if she agreed that established precedent was D.C. v. Heller case that struck down D.C.'s strict gun-control laws, Sotomayor responded: "Yes sir, I accept that."

She said the 2009 decision in a case that came before her panel that said the 2nd amendment didn't apply to states followed a precedent from a decision in the late 1800s that was controlling on that narrow issue.

We'll see if that satisfies the right.
