NEW YORK, July 14 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks to watch on Tuesday:

GOLDMAN SACHS GROUP INC (GS.N)

The company reported a 33 percent increase in second-quarter earnings, helped by a strong gain in trading, though that was partially offset by a one-time charge to repay government loans. For more see [ID:nN14175292].

Shares edged 0.2 percent higher to $149.75.

JOHNSON & JOHNSON CO (JNJ.N)

The pharmaceutical company reported second-quarter results that beat expectations. [ID:nN14253944]

Shares of the Dow component were flat at $57.72.

PRUDENTIAL FINANCIAL (PRU.N)

JPMorgan upgraded the stock to "overweight" from "neutral," expecting easing capital concerns, superior return on equity and earnings growth, and upward revisions to consensus earnings estimates to enable the stock to outperform.

Shares rose 1.2 percent to $37.42.

SUN MICROSYSTEMS INC (JAVA.O)

The company forecast a net loss and quarterly revenue falling below expectations. [ID:nN14255876]

Shares fell 0.6 percent to $9.11.

MONSANTO CO (MON.N)

The company is buying WestBred for $45 million, jumping back into the wheat business five years after shelving a controversial biotech wheat product.

Shares rose 0.6 percent to $74.00.

CUMMINS INC (CMI.N)

The engine manufacturer is seeking "aggressive" cuts in its cost structure in China in 2009, after the company reported a steep drop in global earnings. [ID:nPEK80169]

Shares fell 0.8 percent to $32.90.

DELL INC (DELL.O)

The company forecast lower gross margins in the July quarter as demand has shifted toward cheaper computers such as netbooks, while prices of components are rising. [ID:nN13208933]

Shares dropped 4.7 percent to $12.41.

NOVEN PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NOVN.O)

Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical Co (4530.T) agreed to buy the company for $430 million. [ID:nT77072]

Shares of Noven gained 22 percent to $16.47.

NOVELLUS SYSTEMS INC (NVLS.O)

The company reported a second-quarter loss that was wider than expected, though it also gave a robust revenue outlook. [ID:nN13212985]

Shares rose 2.2 percent to $19.07.

TAKE TWO INTERACTIVE SOFTWARE INC (TTWO.O)

The company cut its outlook for the next two quarters and delayed the release of its BioShock 2 video game. [ID:nN13536112]

Shares fell 6.6 percent to $8.39.

CSX CORP (CSX.N)

The railroad company reported second-quarter earnings that beat expectations, lifted by cutting costs. [ID:nN13218559]

The stock gained 5.7 percent to $34.41.

EXXON MOBIL CORP (XOM.N)

The company is expected to announce a $600 million investment to produce liquid transportation fuels from algae. [ID:nLE641573]

Shares of the Dow component rose 0.4 percent to $65.98.

INTERACTIVE INTELLIGENCE INC (ININ.O)

The IP business communications company reported preliminary second-quarter results that topped expectations. [ID:nWNAB6697]

Shares rose 19.2 percent to $15.63.

SEQUENOM INC (SQNM.O)

The maker of genetic analysis products said a study showed that its genetic analysis platform detected the presence of sexually transmitted human papillomavirus in nearly half of women who tested negative by the standard-of-care test. [ID:nBNG382861]

Shares surged 3.5 percent to $3.83.

BANK OF THE OZARKS INC (OZRK.O)

The company reported better-than-expected second-quarter profits, driven by strong mortgage lending income and net interest margin. [ID:nWNAB6720]

Shares fell 2.2 percent to $23.01 after rising in after-hours trading.

COBIZ FINANCIAL INC (COBZ.O)

The company posted a wider-than-expected quarterly loss and said it was publicly offering $45 million of common stock. [ID:nBNG461103]

Shares fell 12.6 percent to $5.14.

OSCIENT PHARMACEUTICALS CORP (OSCI.O)

The company on Monday filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and agreed to sell its antibiotic drug Factive to a unit of Cornerstone Therapeutics Inc (CRTX.O) for $5 million. [ID:nBNG389788]
